PGM Student Awarded National PGA WORKS Scholarship 2021-22

Emily Gustafson, a PGA Golf Management undergraduate from Holdrege, Neb., is one of ten recipients selected by PGA REACH to be awarded a scholarship through the PGA WORKS Golf Management University Scholarship Program for the 2021-2022 academic school year. These $8,000 scholarships are designed to improve the recruitment and retention of talented and motivated students from diverse backgrounds, who are pursuing PGA Membership through PGA Golf Management University Programs nationwide.

On March 29, the Nebraska PGA honored nine individuals and one facility for outstanding achievements in a variety of areas of the golf industry during the 2020 season. Two of the nine come from the ranks of the PGA Golf Management Program here in the Center for Grassland Studies.

Making the CASNR Dean's List demonstrates high academic achievement (semester grade point average of 3.75 or higher). For the Fall 2020, the PGA Golf Management Program had thirteen (13) students who achieved this honor. This was the highest number of CASNR Dean’s List recipients in the program’s history. These future PGA professionals are making it happen on the golf course and in the classroom!

Exciting news! Starting on March 1 of this year, we will have Joe Canny, PGA join our team as a PGA Professional in Residence in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources with an office housed in the Center for Grassland Studies/PGA Golf Management Program.

Brad Goetsch Wins Omtvedt Innovation Award for Teaching

Brad Goestch, Assistant Professor of Practice in the PGA Golf Management program, is the 2020 recipient of the Omtvedt Innovation Award for Teaching. Brad was selected for his work and commitment to the education of the PGA golf management students and his many contributions to the PGM program.

PGA Golf Management Student Accepts Internship at the Pinehurst Resort for Summer 2021

Beth Hildebrant (senior from Brookings, S.D.) has accepted an internship at the Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina for summer 2021. All PGA golf management students are required to complete a minimum of 16-month paid internship during their undergraduate career at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Our students intern at a variety on facilities from coast to coast and even globally.
