Hannah Allen: Working with Collaborative Adaptive Management At Barta Brothers Ranch

Hannah Allen is a Nebraska native with a focus in range and forage science. Allen has worked with the Collaborative Adaptive Management at Barta Brothers Ranch the past two years. Her masters project started this past May, and the previous summer she assisted with project CAM as an undergrad on a smaller scale, looking at cattle grazing patterns.

These grasslands serve multiple purposes including, providing homes for wildlife, recreational opportunities and of course, creating grazing opportunities for the livestock producers around Nebraska. That's why grassland conservation was a topic of discussion for several UNL seniors this week.

East Campus returns to its roots with grazing demonstration

October 3, 2024

University of Nebraska–Lincoln students caught a small glimpse of East Campus' past Sept. 30 when a live grazing demonstration was held on a small section of prairie on the southwest corner of campus.

The demonstration was conducted on a small portion of the 1/4-acre tall grass prairie outside of Hardin Hall. The prairie plot was planted in 2021 by David Wedin, director of Nebraska’s Center for Grassland Studies, and colleagues in the School of Natural Resources. The steers for the demonstration were provided by the Department of Animal Science.
