The Nine-Mile Prairie Environs Master Plan

The Nine-Mile Prairie Environs Master Plan establishes a long-range framework to protect, manage, and enhance one of Nebraska's most significant ecological treasures (pp. 1, 6). At the heart of this initiative is Nine-Mile Prairie (NMP), a pristine 230-acre tract of unplowed tallgrass prairie owned by the University of Nebraska Foundation (pp. 6, 24). Because less than 1% of the original tallgrass prairie remains in North America, this site serves as a vital island of biodiversity and a historic anchor for ecological research
